First Entry
What a day to start off a first entry. I created this blog as a means for me to get back into the habbit of drawing. I used to draw all the time and I thought that I was starting to get realy good around freshman year of college. Now in my junior year, the time I spend drawing has dwindled down to nearly zero! This ia a problem in my book! Although I don’t plan on doing anything professionally with drawing, it’s still a skill I’d really like to keep up. So I’m going to challenge myself to do a drawing every day for one year.
UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS A TERRIBLE DAY TO START THIS CHALLENGE. I’ll tell you why!
I recently came back from the hospital after dumping a pot of hot water down my right arm. 2nd degree burns all around. Very painful. Not too fun. As a result, what I was originally planning for the first entry cannot be completed because I’ve lost a good amount of movement of my right arm – my drawing arm. So I’m going to postpone starting the actual challenge until my arm heals and hopefully over the next year this will not happen again!
Posted below is a drawing I did back in 2008. The reason I’m posting this below is that while I was in the Hospital waiting room (for about 4 hours), the movie Penelope was playing on one of the TVs. Now I’m not really one for romantical movies, but I thought this movie was adorable, so right after I saw it for the first time I drew this up. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep a good quality and variety of drawings thoughout the year, but right now I’m going to tend to my wounded arm (and pride).
